It's a sad week for Infinity fans as the series and planned 4.0 game have been cancelled with Disney ceasing self-publication of games.
Due to poorer than expected sales figures the "toys-to-life" game which has been out in September for the last 3 years will not see the 4th version which was in the works for 2016. Avalanche studios, who were responsible for the development of the series has been shut down and around 300 jobs have been lost (according to The Wall Street Journal)
The company just made the announcement during its latest earnings report where it noted that it had a $147m charge due to "the discontinuation of our self-published console games business, principally Infinity."
Disney said it had "lower results" for Infinity than the company predicted. Disney's Consumer Products and Interactive Media devision revenue for the quarter decreased by two per cent to $1.2bn. Its operating income also decreased eight per cent to $357m.
It's worth noting that Disney, Marvel & Star Wars games will still exist as licensing opportunities for other teams to work on - much like Battlefront.
