Phew! What a year it's been! Hopefully, by the time you're reading this you're all nursing savage hangovers from from Christmas day and/or rolling down your stairs carrying an extra stone in turkey weight. However you're feeling, we want to take a moment to say thank you to you, our community, for making 2016 an incredible year for everyone here at TMG, and look back on a few of the highlights of the last 12 months.
The Midnight Gamer is, and has always been, about real people with a real love of gaming, juggling that passion with the busy world we all find ourselves in. From the nine-to-fivers to the shift workers, the musicians, the entrepreneurs, the students, the gym-rats, the travellers overseas... We want you to know there's a community out there of people share your passion and your reality. We're not journalists, paid to play 24/7; we're guys'n'gals like you who squeeze in those precious hours wherever we can and want to share the joy of gaming with each and every one of you.
Roll back a year or two and TMG was a very different beast: Brad & I were gradually shaping an old blogging platform into a more polished home for regular content and reaching out to their fellow gamers, friends and colleagues to ensure there was always a fresh voice on the site. Fast forward to now and things have come along in leaps and bounds and below are just a few of our stand-out highlights of 2016:
And we're just getting started. There's a huge amount going on behind the scenes that we can't wait to share with you, from content to new ways to get you guys involved in TMG at its core. That's what excites us most as we grow The Midnight Gamer: ensuring this remains about you.
So, on behalf of all of the team here at The Midnight Gamer, we want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of you for helping make 2016 such an awesome year - for tuning in to the podcast or Twitch streams, for coming to the site and checking out the latest news, reviews and features, for making the Discord server such a buzzy and amazing place to be, and for sharing in the spirit of what we all set out for TMG to be. Without you, our community, we wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't have such high hopes for 2017 and beyond. We really hope you're as excited as we are!
Much love, merry Christmas (/Boxing Day) and a really happy New Year!
Nick, Brad & all the TMG Team xx
P.S. If you've read this far, we're currently prepping a Winter giveaway to dust off some of those post-Christmas blues. Stay tuned for more details, as there are a ton of games up for grabs!
